Red wine is the worst for me, I can get away with drinking half a glass without suffering throughout the night. Wines with sulphate are the worst for me. The joy of drinking alcohol is no more. I feel your pain.
Glad you enjoyed, thank you! Weirdly, since I wrote this then lapsed a bit and tippled some wine - they seem to have lessened. A tiny bit. I battle onwards... x
Pernod and black! I used to love drinking that on a week night in a pub in the Hilltoon area of Dundee - a stone’s throw from I my flat on Nelson Road ! In my daughter’s time as an underage drinker it had switched to Malibu and Pineapple, and the oldest looking of her friends would go up to the bar and order 11 Malibus and Pineapple. Bar staff would turn a blind eye. Loved reading this - and it’s so true no one drink wine in the 70’s. My Mum and Dad had Sherry. Now everyone laughs if you order a sherry in the pub unless you’re in Spain I suppose , but I’ve not tried that.

Yes - red wine is a no no for me too. I get a raging hot KNEE! x
😳 not heard of that one, menopause has a lot to answer for 😬
I blame EVERYTHING on it. Even a houseplant dying! x
So do I!
What a hilarious journey through drinking - so funny to think wine was considered so sophisticated. Was it to do with the price perhaps?
Do report back on whether wine truly does 'enable' your night sweats. Second opinion and all that. Another life stage to look forward to!

Haha yes a fine weeknight tipple! '11 Malibus and pineapple' - I love that. Sherry is a lovely drink - let's revive it! x
Hello Fiona,
Thank you for the laugh! :)
I'm also suffering through the night sweats. Menopause be damned! Giving up wine, which I adore, has helped me, too. xx
