Don't saute it, roast it or grill it, and def rub the oil into it! ;-)

Whew! Luv, you really gave me a start there. In Spanish “caballo negro” means “black horse.” For a minute there I thought you and Jimmy were going to tuck into My Friend Flicka.

Are you sure, luv? My Friend Flicka was old when I was young. (I’d better stop right now. I’m starting to get way beyond creepy.)

‘Everything gets a bit runnier’ … I hadn’t really thought about it before but it’s so true!

I accidentally grew Cavalo Nero on my allotment (I swear it self seeded from somewhere else) so felt obliged to eat it! It’s definitely on the chewy side!

Pam suggests in her comment that you should 'massage' it manually prior to cooking. Who knew! (But impressed that you grew something edible accidentally!)

I really do think that massaging one’s vegetables is a step too far 😂

Rarely a week goes by when my local veg box DOESN'T contain cavalo nero, Fi! Luckily, I like the stuff!

Finished The Full Nest last night and loved it. I can relate this weekend, at least – house full of visitors.

This reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend recently. A group of seven of us, all girls, had a caravan holiday in Findhorn the summer before 6th year. When my friend arrived we were tucking into Bombay Mix, we felt so sophisticated and out there 😆

I’m just popping out to buy my man some Cavelo Nero 👍

Bombay mix! Oh so thrilling in 1983 when a Jackie mag colleague used to munch it at her desk! X

I assume you know that kale requires to be massaged manually before cooking in order to make it half edible! Any vegetable, or other foodstuff for that matter, which needs a massage before it hits my plate can go straight into the compost bucket or the hens' bowl.

Hi Pam! I only learned this recently - this requirement to massage the leaves. Insanity. Btw do let me know if you’re in Glasgow as would love to see you!
