Brilliant! I love writing in cafes.

It’s the best isn’t it? Can’t keep faffing around, poking in fridge etc! X

Love this, Fi! What day is it again? Hope the train stops to your dad’s aren’t too far apart. Started The Woman Who Ran Away From Everything last night and stayed up much later than I should have! A good antidote to the very good but bleak autobiography I was reading before.

Happy writing!

“When choosing ‘my’ cafe (my own personal cafe!) I’m sorry to say that I prefer a tax-dodging multi-national chain over a delightful independent establishment.”

That’s so funny because when I’m going to be writing/studying something for a long time, I am exactly the same. That soulless anonymity is very underrated. I live in Hebden Bridge as I’ve mentioned previously, where there are loads of wonderful independent cafes. Although I frequent them often for lunches with friends, my son etc I would feel too guilty to spend too long in them without frequent purchases. Sometimes I wish I could just pay for a table for two hours or whatever, everyone knows where they stand, instead of wondering if I’ve nursed that cup of coffee just slightly too long😂😂

Yes the renting a table option would be excellent! With the unmentionable chain I sometimes go for 3 hours, go for a quick walk and then come back for another 3! Like you I enjoy the anonymity and have my preferred tables too. It’s like an office really!

Oh dear Fiona, it seems a writer's life is not an easy one, so be kind to yourself and write where ever you feel most comfortable.

Have read The Woman Who Ran Away from Everything this week and enjoyed it immensely - the first few chapters brought back memories and feelings of long ago, but that's OK, many years later life has moved on and so have I, so this woman is happy and no longer feels like running away.

So, thanks for the enjoyable read, particularly now I know just how much effort goes into giving me such pleasure - hate to say it - but I'm now looking forward to the next book..........and the next!

Back to bed Fiona! (but only if that's where you feel most comfortable writing - no pressure!)
